Our client was a significant Copper and Gold producer. With a softening of the Copper price, plus a greater level of maturity in plant operations, they felt that it was appropriate to undertake an objective, external assessment of their Maintenance Management systems and processes, with a view to obtaining independent guidance regarding the focus for future maintenance improvement initiatives which may most quickly result in improved bottom-line performance.
Using our 205 point Maintenance assessment process, we were able to compare their Maintenance systems and processes with over 25 other organisations in the mining industry, as well as with ?best practice?. We also provided them with an objective assessment of performance, against which future improvements can be measured. Specific items given more details within the scope of the review included a comprehensive review of KPIs and reporting systems, a review of the capabilities of their Computerised Maintenance Management system, and the extent to which its capabilities were being utilised, a review of their Organisation Structure, their internal communications processes, as well as their Asset Management and Work Management processes and practices. |
